Details
The exhibition recalls the experience and the atmosphere of journeys at the turn of the 20th century. In the course of his round-the-world trips Ferenc Hopp was touched by the different cultures of people living in far countries of the world. The object of the exhibition is to show these cultures through the eyes of a European traveller. Ferenc Hopp was in fact an optician, his special approach can be observed on all the items he collected. It is this approach we would like to emphasize with the installations of this interactive exhibition which is the most spectacular yet of the museum. The adventurous life of the globe-trotter, art collector, Maecenas and last but not least museum founder is evoked.

650 of most beautiful travelling memories are presented, atmosphere of the oriental bazaars comes to life, as well as India of the 19th century, Southeast Asia, China and Japan. Certainly, a comprehensive exhibition cannot miss the old photographs and cameras recording the journey. The interactive part of the exhibition consist of running stereo recordings very popular at the time and reading out the most typical parts of Hopp’s travel letters.
